I will overwhelm 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex twice world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I'm going to break his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally known for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, at the same time, criticized British rival Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Fighter

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's biggest financial successes, frequently receiving massive earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury next year," Paul said.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters engaged in the customary confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it highlighted just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the bout is really proceeding.
